There are mainly electrolytic coloring and chemical coloring. Chemical coloring is dipping after anodic oxidation of aluminum alloy in a solution containing the dye, due to the adsorption of porous oxide film layer, dye molecules into pore and color, so the chemical coloring also called chemical staining. The dyeing film of chemical stain is not as good as electrolytic color, it is used only for the color processing of aluminum extrusions in the interior.

Aluminum mainly USES the electrolytic coloring, therefore, the method is in the solution containing metal ions, through the effect of current, metal ions, reduction of generated metal (or metal oxide) deposit in the bottom of the oxide film, due to the scattering effect of sediment in light colors.
