Compared with electroplating, the history of electroless nickel plating is relatively short. Its real application in industry abroad is only in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The application of electroless nickel plating process is nearly ten years later than the laboratory research results. After the Second World War, American general transportation company became interested in this process. They wanted to nickel the inner surface of caustic soda cylinder, but the ordinary electroplating method could not be realized.
